When we look at a philosophy of Christian ministry, we find that there are four basic philosophies advice of the priest. Not all Christians, in fact, is just one of those Christians. They
1) philosophy of psychologists and consultants, a secular humanist or cosmic humanist philosophy, problem solving (but not in favor of a Christian).
2) standard methods of counseling, mediation is usually of Carl Rogers liberal or neo-orthodox theology, often in some segments of liberal Christianity.
3) Evangelicals, characterized by Clyde Fools Amore, promoting either a Freudian or an eclectic show, mixed with some Christian ideas, is a major player in the game. Moreover
4) an orthodox Christian view is that the views supervision as a "practical theology" is an option for the pastor / consultant.
It is the last option, which the author identifies himself. This option gives the Scriptures as the provision of all believers to "life and godliness is required" (II Peter 1:3).
Thus, during the first three philosophies, pastor of options that provide an eclectic with regard to the authority of the Bible, the last one looks Scripture alone, that for "every good work" (II Tim 3:16), if not good, the work of the Advisory Board.
The sad think this is that many Christians to identify, on one or more of the first three as Christian counseling as well. Why is it so? In fact, they were confused over the purity of the Word of God with ideas fallen.
